Dr. Harcsztark, or "Dr. H." as he is affectionately known to his patients, has been practicing caring quality general and cosmetic dentistry, including full mouth reconstruction, in Kearny since 1977.
Upon graduation from New York University College of Dentistry in 1974 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.), he entered the United States Navy as a dentist. From 1975 to 1976, he was assigned to work on a 5-year backlog list of patients who needed prosthetic work (crowns, bridges and dentures). The Navy provided "Dr. H." with his own dedicated dental lab and 2 technicians, all necessary training at Bethesda Naval Hospital, and unlimited support, which resulted in completing the assigned task in one year with numerous commendations for a "job well done".
Dr. Harcsztark has worked with Dr. Leonard Linkow in New York City from 1978 - 1981 learning and practicing implant dentistry. Dr. Linkow is world renowned, professionally known as the "Father of Dental Implants" and an honorary chair in his name at NYU College of Dentistry, Department of Implant Dentistry.
In 1990 - 1991, Dr. H. completed a one year, 300-hour maxi-course in implantology at Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center, now affiliated with NYU.
Dr. Harcsztark opened his Kearny, New Jersey dental practice in 1977 and Upper Montclair office in 1995. Building upon his extensive training in cosmetic crown and bridge prosthetics, Dr. H. successfully built one of the premier practices in cosmetic makeovers and dental reconstruction in the Northern New Jersey area.

Dr. Harcsztark began his Botox ® training in 2004 and continued advanced training with both dental and medical-based courses in order to get the best overall experience from both areas of medicine. Now that qualified dentists in New Jersey (and there are very few at this time) are not restricted from giving these injections, Dr. Harcsztark saw a unique opportunity to be amongst the first dentists in New Jersey to offer total facial cosmetics. Being a dentist, he can administer dental anesthesia to eliminate all pain involved with dermal filler injections, especially around the face and lips. That’s the dentist advantage over physician-base injections.
Botox ® and dermal fillers like Restylane ®, Perlane ®, Juvederm ™ and Radiesse ® will become part of the expanding arsenal available to the cosmetic dentist in the near future to enhance a patient’s appearance and smile. It’s a beautiful and natural progression. Dentists are the most extensively trained physicians in administering intraoral local anesthesia and oral and facial anatomy.

Dr. Ekstein graduated in 1985, where he received his D.M.D. degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, N.J. He spent two years in private practice in New Jersey. In 1987, Dr. Ekstein returned from graduate training in Prosthodontics at Fairleigh Dickinson University Dental School in Hackensack where he received his specialty degree in Prosthodontics, specializing in complex dental and cosmetic reconstruction. Prosthodontics is one of only nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association.
Upon receiving his degree in 1989, Dr. Ekstein worked as an associate in a dental practice in Whitestone, New York for 3 years before joining The Smile Center in 1991. His specialty expertise significantly enhances his ability to treat complex cosmetic dental reconstruction cases successfully. In December 2009, Dr. Ekstein successfully completed the certification process of the American Board of Prosthodontics and is now Board Certified in Prosthodontics. Currently, there are only 14 Board Certified Prosthodontic Diplomates in the state of New Jersey.
The Smile Center team is extremely proud of Dr. Ekstein and his prestigious accomplishment. They have supported him through the last four years while he completed this comprehensive multipart process to become certified and recognized as a Diplomate.
Because of this additional education and training, Dr. Ekstein is most skilled in diagnosis, treatment planning and restorative procedures such as replacement of broken, worn, or decayed teeth with crowns, veneers or inlays; placement of implant crowns and prostheses; replacement of missing teeth with bridges; fabricating removable dentures and the management of TMJ disorders and bruxism. His specialty expertise significantly enhances his ability to treat complex cosmetic dental reconstruction cases successfully.
Dr. Pirak is a Diplomate with the American Board of Anesthesiology. He was Board Certified in 1989. Dr. Pirak is currently Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at Trinitas Regional Medical Center and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Seton Hall University. He also lectures at Columbia University in New York.
